How Download Tracking Works

With Digioh Tracking you will know exactly which subscriber downloaded your file. For example:

[email protected] just downloaded “Expensive Product Pricing List.PDF”

How Email Tracking works

All Digioh download links come automatically with tracking.

Every download link contains an Email Merge Tag that is dynamically populated with the email address of your subscriber.  The merge tag allows Digioh to know which one of your subscribers downloaded the file. When the subscriber hits the download page, Digioh collects the merge tag information which is then correlated with if that subscriber downloaded the file or not.

We also store the IP Address of where your subscriber is downloading the file which allows us to know where the file is being downloaded.

Real Time Email Notifications

As soon as one of your email subscribers downloads your file you be alerted via email. This gives you the ability to know who your most engaged subscribers are in real time. Sit back and enjoy knowing when your files are being downloaded and by who!

All real time email notifications can easily be turned off. All subscriber download behavior is recorded in your Digioh Dashboard.

Your New Source Of POWER

Digioh’s download tracking is an email marketer’s super power. Here are a few ideas of what you can do with your new found power:

For Small Business Owners: Follow up with customers that downloaded your order form, price list, or brochure. Send them a follow-up email and ask them what they thought about your download.

For Musicians: Ask the people who downloaded your free mp3 if they like what they heard and want to buy your full album

For Enterprises: Learn which customers are most interested in your free white papers. Segment your list and target them with more free white papers.

Remember, with great power comes even greater responsibility!

What is the best way to send a follow-up email? Can this be automated in mailchimp based on what was downloaded?

The best way is to use MailChimp Autoresponders: This is a paid feature on MailChimp, so you won’t have access if you are on their free plan.

Some email notifications that I receive state that it was an unrecorded email address that downloaded a file. For example “unrecorded 2015-04-16 01:30:54.219 just downloaded your Digioh file (2014-15 Athlete & Team Portrait Order Form.pdf).” When I click on more information it says that it was an “Unrecorded Email” How do I make sure that I am getting an identification of who downloaded my files?

Hi Char – If you are under the “No Security” setting – than this can happen if your file is forwarded on and someone has downloaded the file. I suggest using the “List Grower Security” setting if you want an email address every time.
